The Help to Buy Scheme is essentially an incentive for people who are buying their first home. It is a support that helps you get the deposit you need to build or purchase a new home. The Help to Buy Scheme gives you a refund of Deposit Interest Retention Tax and Income Tax that you have paid in Ireland. You can then put this towards your deposit on your new home.

To be eligible for the Help to Buy Scheme, the property you are purchasing or building needs to be your home. It cannot have been previously deemed suitable to use as a residential property or used prior. To apply, you will need to register with Revenue. From this point, you can fill out the application form on the Revenue website and follow all of the steps from there.
